learning more about EU programmes and policies and discussing the opportunities that
      these programmes and policies offer,
      developing civic participation at the local and EU level;
  3. Presentation of good practice example related to the involvement of the entire community
in the cultural sustainable tourism development: HERITAGE WALK
Heritage Walk is a concrete example of the application of the Faroe Convention through the
Heritage Walk methodology, prepared and implemented by the Radimlja Public Institution
and the local citizens with the aim of discovering local cultural and natural values not only
using expert data but also the life experiences of the local population. Project participants
    participated in several Heritage Walks:
    1. Stolac Cultural Heritage and Legends:
Cultural heritage and legends are deeply connected because legends form a vital part of the
intangible cultural heritage that connects society with its past through stories.
    2. Boljuni: Rural life with a necropolis of stećak tombstones (a UNESCO World Heritage Site
      since 2016).
    3. The Austro-Hungarian influence in Mostar:
The Austro-Hungarian influence in Mostar is evident in the city's urban planning,
architecture, and infrastructure, which transformed the Ottoman-style town into a Central
European one between 1878 and 1918. Therefore, in addition to the world-famous Old
Bridge (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the project participants also walked through the
historic center with visible Austro-Hungarian influence.
    4. The walled city of Počitelj (in the Municipality of Čapljina), on the UNESCO Tentative List,
is very attractive for cultural tourism despite the lack of quality services and few permanent
      residents.
  4. Public presentation of documentary film: “Song of Stone and Sun”
The film is given special value by the fact that the local community (experts, cultural
workers, young bearers of tradition) participated in its realization, creating an authentic
portrayal of the identity of Stolac.
The International Event ended on October 19 with the General Meeting of all participants
and the presentation of the project activities results and the project website .

Results/Outcomes:

  • Improved knowledge of the opportunities offered by EU programmes and policies for
    possible joint projects
  • Increased knowledge about the cultural heritage of World or European value in Stolac and
    surroundings
  • Increased awareness of the specificities of the local cultural heritage, its diversity and
    European multiculturalism
